You will serve as a Physical Science Technician in the Operations Division of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will review information from samples as received, inspect samples for correctness and completion; request additional or corrected information from the customer as needed. You will oversee sample retain management with regard to log-in, storage, and ultimate disposal. You will prepare laboratory findings and briefings to operations personnel and fuels leadership presenting the results of the investigations, methods, and techniques used, data obtained and recommendations and conclusions reached. You will maintain records of fuel tests, interprets test results and compares them against acceptance limits.

Qualifications

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes: 1) Analyzing samples from test situations to determine product quality, type and quantity of contaminants, or identification of unknown contaminants in samples; 2) Applying a knowledge and skills of analytical chemistry as it applies to the conduct of a Quality Assurance Program for an analytical chemistry laboratory; 3) Adapting and modifying the established precedents, methods and procedures to solve a variety of quality determination problems; 4) Ability to calibrate or check the calibration of applicable lab equipment and perform limited repair to test instruments; and 5) Maintain all administrative records associated with sample testing and analysis, QA and QC functions, requirements, purchasing, and others as needed. Successful completion of a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree from an accredited college or university.
