About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade, responsible for performing technical network analysis to assist end users to successfully use products and capabilities needed to carry out the Brigade's intelligence functions.
Duties
Assessing operational mission requirements for data, voice, and video IT Network support.
Planning, managing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and sustaining unclassified and classified LAN/WAN data, voice, and video enterprise systems and associated communication infrastructure.
Monitoring, assessing, and maintaining network performance, status, availability, integrity, and reliability in support of time-sensitive, military, or national security operations.
Performing fault-isolation, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective action to rapidly resolve LAN/WAN enterprise and communications outages and deficiencies.
Establishing and maintaining connectivity and interoperability with supporting and supported units, and Defense and National agencies, such as, the Defense Information Services Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, and National Security Agency.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency (NSA) facilities and networks.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 25% or less.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Must be willing to carry a cell phone and be on call.
- May be required to work outside normal duty hours when notified of actions necessary to restore critical mission systems.
- Position is designated Mission Essential and must be able to remain on duty or make every effort to report to duty on time during emergency and/or crisis situations.
- Position is considered Non-Combat Essential (NCE) and could be assigned to any location worldwide. Certain levels of medical, security, performance, conduct, and overall fitness must be maintained to be assigned to a stressful combat environment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience at the GG-11 grade level, or equivalent, which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience assessing operational mission requirements for data, voice and video IT network support; designing, implementing, and maintaining unclassified and classified enterprise systems and associated communications infrastructure; maintaining network performance, integrity, and reliability in support of time-sensitive, military, or nation security operations; and performing fault-isolation, diagnosing, trouble-shooting, and implementing corrective action to rapidly resolve LAN/WAN enterprise and communications outages and deficiencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
