About the Position: The incumbent functions as a Security Officer for the U.S. Army Medical Logistics Command (AMLC) Headquarters located on Fort Detrick, in Frederick, Maryland. Frederick, is west of Baltimore, northwest of Washington, DC, and south of Pennsylvania; it is also close to Virginia and West Virginia. The surrounding area offers a variety of historical sites, semi-professional and professional sports teams, restaurants and shops, museums, and outdoor recreational activities.
Duties
Serve as the Security Manager responsible for the development, implementation and management of all aspects of comprehensive security programs.
Advise and coordinate with management on investigation requirements, personnel assurance programs and related matters to ensure required actions are taken.
Review unclassified reports, articles, etc., for sensitive information prior to release to the general public.
Ensures that the Foreign Travel program is being followed.
Coordinate, interpret, and review directives issued by higher authority and ensure uniformity in all security and foreign travel regulations and policies throughout the various programs.
Requirements
- Obtain and maintain a T5-Top Secret Security clearance.
- Business travel up to 10%.
- Position requires the incumbent to obtain Security Professional Education Development (SPeD)Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) certification within 24 months of hire.
- Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Department of Army Physical Security Inspector credential with 24 months of hire.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the Anti-terrorism Officer Level II Certification.
- One year probationary period may be required.

One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting security inspections or evaluations to determine or identify security threats or issues 2) Assisting in developing or reviewing security plans, policies or guidelines; AND 3) Developing and presenting security briefings or training programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
