You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER in the STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION DICISION of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will be responsible for the supervision during the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls that may be received via commercial phone. You will be responsible for the supervision during the receipt of emergency phone direct dial, 911 transfer from outside emergency agencies, fixed alarms systems, via radios or a variety of notification methods. You will has the overall responsibility for establishing work assignments and supervises the Public Safety Dispatchers. Supervises and plans work to be accomplished by a subordinate staff of ten (10) Civilian Public Safety Dispatchers GS-2151-07. You will Develop performance standards. Evaluates and reviews performance of subordinates. You will Plan, organize work and manages positions to ensure maximum dispatching productivity. Promotes all special programs, such as the elimination of fraud, waste and abuse in the Federal Government. You will Initiate formal requests for filling vacancies and makes selections to the Fire Chief. You will Formulate options and makes recommendations to the Fire Chief, when questions arise regarding fire and military police patrol dispatching procedures, notifications, radio or telephone procedures. You will Manages, directs programs, troubleshoots and performs a variety of software upgrades on the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. You will ensure all communication equipment is kept in a high state of readiness by conducting daily checks on all communications equipment used within the Consolidated Public Safety Dispatch Center.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Must be willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Extensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of the Public Safety Dispatch Organizational structure functions and procedures of the Fire, Police, and Medical (ambulance) in order to oversee such duties as dispatching the appropriate emergency resources and personnel; Ability to perform the supervisory duties; Skills in performing assignments under extremely trying conditions such as emergencies and requires the ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under stress; Ability to communicate orally during emergency and stressful situations and make the correct decisions.
