About the Position: This position is with the US Army Engineer District, Engineering & Construction Division, Hydraulics & Hydrology Branch. You will be responsible for work assignments involved with a comprehensive program designed to provide complete stage and discharge data for all surface water and directing the field phases of collecting suspended sediment samples in all waterways of the Memphis District.

Duties

At the full performance level, you will Prepare, coordinate, and execute contractual agreements for equipment and services needed for the gage network and data collection. Establish contacts with cooperating state and federal agencies and private individuals concerning the coordination and the reconciliation of any problems connected with the collection, dissemination and publication of stream gage information. Manage the collection, preparation, maintenance, and dissemination of data pertaining to river stages, and discharges for 100+ gages. Direct the installation, operation and maintenance of District stream gaging stations and of the water data collection equipment, while ensuring health and safety standards are met. Complete annual inventory and vehicle usage reports per the request of ULA. Distribute workload among lower graded Hydro Techs, reviews completed assignments for accuracy and compliance with accepted policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. (Note: you must submit a copy of your license as part of your application)
  • This position requires a NASBLA Boat Safety Course Certificate to be acquired within the first 6 months and must pass the USACE Boat Operator Safety Course within 2 years of your start date.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted and subject to a preemployment screening and random testing thereafter.
