Duties

Verifies member eligibility, course availability, and validates school orders, travel orders, PCS procedures, and pre-requisites are properly complied with in-accordance with National Guard Bureau (NGB) guidance. Manages formal schools training budget, to include all formal schools and Mission Essential Skills Training (MEST). Assists in all aspects of Education, Training and Distance Learning Programs. Provides education and training advisory services to commanders and staff on all education and training programs. Assists with the development of education and training instructional products. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant's demonstrated ability to follow directions, read, understand, and retain instructions, regulations, and procedures that otherwise validate the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of experience and knowledge in scheduling training events and facilities; supporting assistance visits and training meetings; or assisting in work center and individual job qualification standard development; education institution registration requirements; and military personnel classification system and policies. Experience in the capabilities of communicative interpersonal skill applications and distance learning concepts. Knowledge of and skill in applying fundamental military personnel policies, training principles, practices, methods, procedures, rules, guidelines, publications, etc., to understand respective programs and converse with managers. Experience in performing interviews and counseling techniques; training techniques and instruction methods; task analysis procedures, learning processes, curriculum development, training evaluations, and education and training systems and products; effective writing skills; editing practices; instructional media application, training reporting, program and curriculum validation, and implementation procedures. Experience as a participant and presenter during training and military or civilian conference events. Must have at least 12 months experience equivalent to the GS-07. Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
