Duties
Represent the District on committees and at conferences to formulate national emergency policies and determine support requirements and services to be provided by the District.
Develop and participate in EOC operation for both manmade and natural Emergency Preparedness activities.
Develop, review, and update plans involving mobilization, Continuity of Operations, and support to local civil preparedness agencies.
Manage emergency operations activities during actual emergencies. Assembles and dispatches emergency teams, coordinates disaster zone information and determines resources available within the District for response.
Organize and conduct national and technological disaster training and exercises for CAT and executive level crisis management team to support Commander.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
- Serves as incidental motor vehicle operator. Incumbent must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle without danger to self or others.
- The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent must be deployable on TDY assignments to any area in the USACE impacted by a natural disaster or natural security emergency. Deployment normally last 30 days real time but may be extended based on the specific situation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. However, incumbent occasionally participates in flood control project inspections and special assignments involving levees, pump stations, which require climbing, and other physical demands.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in an office setting. During emergency situations, incumbent is subject to performing response activities in temporary field locations and adverse weather conditions.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
