You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS) in the S-4 Department, Structural Fire Department of MCAS BEAUFORT SC.
Duties
You will respond to fire alarms, structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue emergencies, high angle rescue emergencies, water rescue emergencies, and other emergencies.
You will operate and drive emergency vehicles of all types.
You will operate pumps and ladders, utilize basic fire ground hydraulics to determine and acquire proper pressures, hose lines, etc.
You will perform duties as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), and respond to medical emergencies, provide primary medical care, basic life support and take necessary steps to stabilize life threatening heath situations.
You will inspect, test, service and perform minor repair to fire apparatus and equipment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You are required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must obtain EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator certification) for structure apparatus.
- Must obtain U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card (OF 346).
- Must be certified to the following levels: Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Emergency Medical Technician (Basic Life Support) through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, Driver Operator pumper.
- Must obtain the following IFSAC Certifications during the first year of employment: 1. Airport Firefighter; 2. Driver Operator Aerial; 3. Hazardous Materials Technician; 4. ICS-100, 200, 700, 800; 5. Airfield Operators Permit
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires rotating shift work. You will work 144 hours per pay period (72 hours per week).
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Responding to fire alarms, structure fires, vehicle fires, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescue emergencies, high angle rescue emergencies, water rescue emergencies, and other emergencies as a member of an engine company or support vehicle.
