Duties
Plan, organize, supervise and participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical features of a hydroelectric power plant, switchyard, and dam in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Help plan yearly workload and assign priorities considering equipment availability.
Plan weekly and monthly schedules to meet assignment deadlines by establishing priorities, setting sequence of operations, and determining staff, equipment and materials needed to handle probable workload.
Inspect plant structures and equipment to ensure that the preventive and operating maintenance program meets established standards.
Suggest ways to improve organizational structure of the electrical unit.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R "Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program".
- Pre-Employment physical required and annually thereafter.
- Must be a graduate of a USACE Hydropower Training Program.
- Must be a qualified (passed oral examination) Senior Electrician.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Power Plant Senior Electrician without more than normal supervision. Installation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical features of a hydroelectric power plant, switchyard, and dam; workload planning; inspection of plant structures and equipment; adherence to rules and regulations of a Safety Program; and budget maintenance and requisitioning of supplies and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Works primarily indoors but is subject to outside weather conditions when working in the switchyard. Subject to electric shocks from high tension equipment to and including 176,000 volts. Occasionally works in cramped quarters; subject to constant noise from operating machinery and maintenance equipment; subject to dirt, grease, etc.; may be required to bend, stoop, and lift up to 40 pounds. Works on a regular day shift but may be called into work if available and need arises to meet emergencies during other than day shift.
