Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Public Affairs Specialist. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Glendale, Arizona
Duties
The primary duties of this position are as follows:
Develops and disseminates mission critical program information to regional employees, general public, news media, representatives of state and local governments, water user organizations, and other regions within the Bureau of Reclamation and Department of the Interior, as well as to other agencies and offices within the federal government.
Collaborates with individuals, groups and/or teams that involve other Reclamation offices, federal, state, or local government agencies, Indian Tribes, water and power organizations, non-government offices, and other stakeholders.
Prepares, develops, and/or evaluates news releases, fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, scripts, speeches, and other multimedia materials used to explain the programs and projects of the Region.
Provides regional support to the national Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) communications and public affairs teams - may include planning and developing communication products on the organization's BIL programs, policies, and activities for delivery to internal and external audiences.
Qualifications

GS-12: You must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service.
Specialized Experience for GS-12: Defined as experience as a public affairs specialist, or related communication professional in public affairs, public relations, government affairs, or news media setting; drafting, reviewing, and editing press releases, press statements, remarks, and speeches; liaison with stakeholders; and experience with complex matters.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 08/06/2024.
