This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Social Services Assistant in a clinical setting on a highly specialized multidisciplinary treatment team dealing with mental health issues and supporting Behavioral Health Providers with commanders providing the best level of treatment available.

Duties

Apply a collaborative team approach, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates options and services to meet complex mental health needs of the soldier, which promotes appropriate, timely, clinically effective and cost-effective care. Ensure through facilitation, negotiation, procurement, advocacy, communication, empowerment, quality care, and involvement necessary for the achievement of mutually developed treatment goals. Participate as a member of the mental health multidisciplinary team that coordinates care for Soldiers and assist in accessing the appropriate level of mental health care. Collaborate with mental health providers, other appropriate providers, soldiers, other case managers, and with any other appropriate multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate utilization of mental health care resources. Develop support caseload as directed by the clinical mental health providers. Maintain ongoing comprehensive supportive care with identified high-risk soldiers during treatment

Requirements

  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is mission essential. Incumbent may be required to report and/or remain on duty in the event of a national crisis, civil disaster, medical crisis or extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes:1)Collaborating with a licensed clinical social worker in developing recommended treatment plans and providing case management services to include ensuring that treatment plan approved treatment plan is carried out by the client; 2) Compiling information about the specific incident, as well as previous incidents, and/or other personal and family problems to include the extent and prior efforts toward problem resolution and client's own resources; 3) Gathering collateral information through discussions with unit personnel, family members, record review, or other sources. OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Child and Family Welfare, Counseling, Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Sociology, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
