About the Position: Primary project site employee at Chilo Lock and Dam for Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Operations and Readiness, located in Letart, WV; providing administrative and clerical support to the Lockmaster and assigned staff in the areas of purchasing, property control, personnel actions, data processing, reporting, and other project office operations. Responsible for the review and application of administrative guidelines necessary for project operations.
Duties
Perform general office management activities.
Use application software to accomplish assigned work.
Maintain office files utilizing appropriate filing system procedures.
Research and recommend efficient methods of travel and makes arrangements.
Utilize an automated system to track financial transactions.
Performs a variety of purchasing and property accounting activities.
Able to perform oral and written communication.
Requirements

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
GS-04: General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as performing general office support and assistance in an office setting, receiving visitors, scheduling appointments, sorting mail, and typing correspondence.

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-05: Specialized experience is defined as: Utilizing various computer systems to access, input, track and maintain information; preparing various forms, correspondence, memorandums and reports following guides and regulations which prescribe the proper format for correct preparation; maintaining a record keeping system, performing mail distribution, and utilizing office equipment, such as a copier, fax machine, and computer. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Specialized experience is defined as: Performing procedural and administrative work in an office environment; preparing correspondence; maintaining files/records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory records for hand receipt accounts on property; making credit card purchases; gathering narrative and statistical budgetary data; prepare and monitor labor and fund requests; serve as timekeeper and complete weekly labor reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent .
For GS-05: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
For GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Education
For this job at the GS-6 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
