You will serve as a UTILITY SYSTEMS OPERATOR LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will independently start the work by assigning tasks, estimating short-term equipment and material needs, reviewing work, and passing out instructions. You will set the pace for the crew, prepare status and progress reports, and inform the supervisor of significant problems affecting work or ability to meet deadlines. You will start, regulate, and stop the equipment and perform routine operator maintenance. You will plan the work sequence and determine that the equipment meets the requirements for serviceability. You will work closely with shop safety and technical personnel to solve problems and deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Water Distribution Manager III license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to carry a portable radio, pager or cellular phone to maintain contact with supervisor or customer service center at all times.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Reporting to the supervisor and passing on instructions to the team to get work started; 2) Operating water treatment plants where the water requires both non-filtration and filtration processes to change content of the water; 3) Treating wastewater by removing nitrogen, phosphates, soluble chemicals, oils, and heavy metals; 4) Assuring that safety and housekeeping rules are followed; and 5) Installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing various types of electronically controlled electrical equipment.**NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
