This position is located in the Mine Safety and Health Administration, Mine Safety and Health, in a District Office located in Pineville, WV.
This position serves as the personal assistant to the Assistant District Manager, providing program and administrative support throughout a broad range of technical and administrative areas, as well as guidance and assistance to support staff in subordinate branches.
This position is outside the bargaining unit.
Duties
As the primary assistant to the Assistant District Manager (ADM), the incumbent performs the following duties:

- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
Qualifications

For the GS-06 Grade Level: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-05, in the Federal service.
Specialized experience must include at least three (3) or more of the following:
Review or proofread documents for conformance, format, or grammatical accuracy.
Prepare documents, correspondence or reports using computer software programs.
Assist with office support tasks such as maintaining a calendar, scheduling appointments, coordinating travel, or managing time and attendance records.
Assemble information for various reports, briefings, and/or conferences.
Maintain records and files.
Communicate with customers through a variety of contact methods (e.g., email, telephone, in-person, web form inquiries).
Assist with coordinating meetings, trainings, or seminars.
Note: There is no education substitution for experience at the GS-06 level.
For the GS-07 Grade Level: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-06, in the Federal service.
Specialized experience must include at least four (4) or more of the following:
Review or proofread documents for conformance, format, or grammatical accuracy.
Prepare documents, correspondence or reports using computer software programs.
Maintain office support tasks such as office calendar, scheduling appointments, coordinating travel, or managing time and attendance records.
Research, locate, and assemble information for various reports, briefings, and/or conferences.
Create and maintain records and files.
Communicate with customers through a variety of contact methods (e.g., email, telephone, in-person, web form inquiries).
Coordinate meetings, trainings, or seminars.
Note: There is no education substitution for experience at the GS-07 level.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, you must have a typing proficiency of 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You must have a certificate of proficiency from an organization authorized to issue such certificates or self-certify your proficiency.
Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
