You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Mechanic Leader at NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR.

Duties

You will lead a group of civilian and military employees who will maintain, inspect, install, repair, replace, and modify liquid fuel storage and distribution systems. You will have knowledge of the physical properties and boards associated with the handling of various types of petroleum fuels. You will perform calibration of fuel dispensing systems and tank and pressure gauges. You will have the ability to analyze deficiencies and diagnose malfunctions of system components such as automatic control valves, pumps, flow meters, etc. You will have knowledge of mechanical principles necessary to repair and maintain fuel distribution systems and their components. You will have the ability to plan and layout the installation and modification of fuel distribution systems and equipment and to interpret and apply plans, blueprints, and schematics.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to and have performed the majority of the Fuel Distribution System Mechanic Leader tasks on my own initiative including leading a group of civilian and military employees to perform tasks such as: maintain, inspect, install, repair, replace and modify liquid fuel storage and distribution systems; Demonstrating proper work methods and ensuring needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available. Utilizing knowledge of fuel distribution and storage systems to perform work which includes inspecting fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, contamination, and sludge; Inspecting possible explosive and toxic hazards and system deficiencies; Troubleshooting component parts of fuel systems to correct malfunctions; Lubricating and replacing valves; lubricating pumps; Replacing gaskets and seals; Correcting misalignment of pumping equipment; Cleaning strainers and filters; Disassembling, adjusting, replacing and calibrating meets, and gauges; Reading and working from blueprints; Maintaining records of inspections and repairs; Overhauling system components; Performing test work on fuel pumping, filtering, and hardware systems; Receiving, storing, and transferring liquid petroleum fuels, lubes, liquid and waste oils.
