About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Instruct undergraduate courses in one or more Departments in the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point.
Actively participate in research, scholarly activities, service, and faculty development.
Conduct research support activities including the necessary administration and logistics required to support both internal and external coordination research program at USMA.
You will support the personal growth and professional development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position may be subject to a one-year trial period.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 Months.Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Applicants will be evaluated on the following:
1. Academic Accomplishment (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Human Performance, Mathematics, or a closely related field to the Army's focus on Data, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence.
2. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and support activities of USMA or one of its departments through planning, administration, internal and external coordination.
3. Ability to teach in-person elective courses in one or more academic disciplines and actively participate in faculty development at USMA.
4. Demonstrated ability to mentor and/or advise cadets and faculty members in United States Military Academy in and out of the classroom to be a role model for future leaders of the Nation.
