You will serve as a Aircraft Mechanic in the Norfolk Production Branch in the FRCMA A/C Department of FRC SE DET MIDLANT OCEANA.

Duties

You will interpret guidance (e.g., blueprints, job orders, specifications, technical directives, maintenance instructions) to perform troubleshooting, repair, or installation on aircraft systems You will inspect and evaluate the overall performance of an aircraft to determine if it meets specifications or qualitative standards You will analyze malfunctions, isolate units, and determine what adjustments, repairs, or replacements are required for flight correctness You will connect related systems (e.g., hydraulic systems, cable systems) to newly installed or repaired units

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: 1) Interpreting written and oral instructions from supervisor in order to plan work and complete assignments with little or no guidance or review; 2) Visually checking aircraft components to locate worn, dirty or poorly adjusted parts and accessories; 3) Installing, adjusting, aligning, and troubleshooting major aircraft systems and components to determine level of rework/repair required; 4) Completing check out procedures to ensure proper orientation; and 5) Performing final functional and operational tests to ensure aircraft flight readiness. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
