This position is located in a State Area Office, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary purpose of the position is to perform administrative support functions pertaining to correspondence management, budget, purchasing, human resources, timekeeping, travel, and related administrative areas for the State Area Office.

Duties

Assists in preparing the Area operating budget for the fiscal year and ensures compliance with agency and state budget requirements. Schedules meetings, prepares agendas, makes arrangements for meeting facilities and notifies participants of schedule changes. Assists in the review of vehicular accidents involving government vehicles in the area, ensuring the proper forms are completed and forwarded to appropriate action personnel in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Establishes, organizes, and maintains a filing system of official material and records; disposes material in accordance with prescribed procedures; maintains an inventory of technical material, which is provided upon request to field offices. Provides administrative guidance and training to area employees on agency operating procedures and requirements.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Specialized Experience for GS-06: To qualify for the GS-06 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as PROVIDING A VARIETY OF ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF A BUSINESS OR PROGRAM OFFICE, ASSISTING WITH PROVIDING TIMEKEEPING SERVICES, AND PURCHASING OFFICE SUPPLIES. Specialized Experience for GS-07: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as PROVIDING A VARIETY OF ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF A BUSINESS OR PROGRAM OFFICE, PROVIDING TIMEKEEPING SERVICES, PURCHASING OFFICE SUPPLIES, AND REVIEWING INCOMING AND OUTGOING CORRESPONDENCE AND OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DOCUMENTS.
