The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a public affairs specialist, providing internal and external media and community relations service for WPAFB.
Duties
Plans and organizes a comprehensive public affairs program at WPAFB
Develops and coordinates community events.
Conducts security and policy review.
Develops informational materials to support public affairs plans and activities
Assists in the planning, organizing and carrying out the visual information program

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience must include expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, policies, and practices of a Public Affairs program. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of written and oral communication and visual information principles, methods, and techniques to determine the need for, plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate Public Affairs and multimedia .
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a public affairs and visual information program and requirements; and written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques to conduct and coordinate public affairs activities to develop intercommunication between the installation and a variety of audiences.
2. Knowledge of the Security and Policy review process as it pertains to the release of information for the general public.
3. Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to identify potential problems, arrive at valid conclusions, and offer meaningful recommendations and/or resolutions.
4. Skill in working with people to maintain effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by public affairs programs or policies, and producing written information conveying complex information to audiences with different levels of understanding.
5. Ability to plan and develop news stories, features, and quasi-technical articles.
6. Ability to present information orally in a logical, clear, and concise manner to audiences with differing levels of comprehension.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
