Navy MWR Starbucks Barista Lead position creates the Navy MWR Starbucks experience for our customer by providing legendary customer service with prompt service of quality beverage and food products and maintaining a clean, comfortable, and safe store environment. The Lead position is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Navy MWR Starbucks guiding principles.
Duties
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values and mission of the Navy MWR Starbucks.
Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standards and set a positive example for all employees.
Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing MWR organizational methods.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
Works with other members of the shift, setting the pace, demonstrating proper work methods, conducting on-the-job training, and communicating work assignments to other employees.
Leads by example and checks work in progress.
Ensures that cash handling, safety, security and food safety & sanitation regulations are being practiced.
Reports any employee relations or operational discrepancies directly to the Store Manager.
Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customer for cues.
Communicates information to Store Manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a positive working environment during each shift.
Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in employee morale and performance and communicating them to the Store Manager.
Delivers exemplary customer service by engaging and connecting with the customer while responding to their needs.
Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that employees can locate resources and product as needed.
Adheres to recipe and presentation standards.
Ensures the safety of all employees and customers during each shift.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must meet federal suitability requirements including successful completion of background investigation.
Qualifications
One to two years' experience in customer service operations.
Ability to lead by example and demonstrates a positive attitude.
Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarifications when needed.
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
Demonstrates strong work practices which includes sanitation, cleanliness, beverage, and food preparation and handling techniques.
Knowledge of cash handling practices and requirements.
Ability to operate basic computer programs.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
