About the Position: Serves as a Program Support Assistant providing administrative, clerical and program support to the Branch. The incumbent is responsible for a wide variety of clerical, administrative, office automation duties designed to relieve the supervisors and action officers of administrative and office management tasks.

Duties

Provide assistance to ensure time and attendance submission is in accordance with Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) deadlines; assists in providing communication concerning deadlines and may address time and attendance issues as needed. Generate reports in CEFMS relating to all major responsibilities as requested. Assists Finance and Accounting Branch with generating documents from CEFMS in response to annual audits. Make necessary arrangements for conferences, workshops, and on-site courses; assembles background material for the trainer Coordinates a variety of internal training and maintains attendance data and completes reporting requirements. Tracks important suspense items for Division/Office and ensures follow-up. Maintains office calendar, completes or ensures completion of time keeping, filing in accordance with the Army's approved system, and that mail and/or supplies are picked-up and distributed. Assures the preparation of travel orders, vouchers, and other routine financial actions as required Develops and exchanges information, resolves operating problems and makes recommendations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary business travel (TDY) away from your duty station is required approximately 5% of the time.
  • Subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing specialized administrative support functions such as office calendar, timekeeping and filing; 2) Customer Service support in relation to time and attendance and mass transit benefits program; 3) Performing financial management support functions such as travel orders/vouchers, generating reports and documents in response to request and annual audits; and 4) Managing and maintaining credit card account to remain active and non-delinquent/good standing status. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education:One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study]. OR Combination: Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some graduate level education as described in B, but less than the required one year. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Self-ManagementWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
