You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Facilities Management Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will coordinate all maintenance services for assigned facilities. You will work with customers on a daily basis, observing the on site conditions of facilities, evaluating those against their realistic needs. You will be responsible for tracking estimates and expenditures and implementing controls necessary to keep budget execution in line. You will answer customer concerns and questions regarding their facilities requirements. You will have approval authority for funding of service calls and subsequently advise customers of the action that will be taken.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
  • NAVFAC MIDLANT is a regional command and the incumbent serving in this position may at anytime be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

For the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading, comprehending, and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, blueprints and technical manuals; 2) Coordinating work and monitoring progress of projects to minimize delays and excessive costs to the government; 3) Tracking estimates and expenditures and performing cost comparison studies to determine the feasibility of projects; 4) Utilizing Maximo Work Management System or a similar system; and 5) Having the ability to demonstrate Information Management as related to funding sources, construction, contracting, prioritization and work type classifications. For the GS-09: Applicants without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading engineering drawings, sketches, blueprints and technical manuals; 2) Assisting with coordinating work and monitoring progress of projects to minimize delays and excessive costs to the government; 3) Assisting with tracking estimates and expenditures and performing cost comparison studies to determine the feasibility of projects; 4) Utilizing Maximo Work Management System or a similar system; and 5) Having the ability to demonstrate Information Management as related to funding sources, construction, contracting, prioritization and work type classifications. Applicants who are current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service employees: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reading engineering drawings, sketches, blueprints and technical manuals; 2) Assisting with coordinating work and monitoring progress of projects to minimize delays and excessive costs to the government; 3) Assisting with tracking estimates and expenditures and performing cost comparison studies to determine the feasibility of projects; 4) Utilizing Maximo Work Management System or a similar system; and 5) Having the ability to demonstrate Information Management as related to funding sources, construction, contracting, prioritization and work type classifications.
