This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Base Seattle, Warrenton, OR. 

Duties

This position provides a board range of programs supporting and building the resilience, wellness and readiness of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) employees and their family members. The EAPS supports a geographic area of responsibility (AOR), in which they are responsible for collaboration with CGSUPRT, provision of pre- and post-deployment briefings, suicide prevention trainings, resiliency trainings, psychological first aid and/or operational stress control trainings, workplace violence response efforts, critical/traumatic incident response duties, and evidence-based management of personnel readiness issues impacting units and commands.

  • May require frequent travel locally and nationwide.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one of the following basic requirements: A. Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.ORB. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.ORC. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.ANDIn addition to the basic requirements above: To Qualify for the GS-12 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: administering, planning, directing, managing, monitoring, educating, developing, implementing, marketing, evaluating, and training and consulting, on all aspects of the agency Employee Assistance Program; participating, coordinating, issuing measurement reports, focus on awareness, prevention, informing and training members, employees, and families on services provided through EAP.Experience and education combinations are computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the total of qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at that grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
