You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Personal Property, Household Goods program Office of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

At the GS-05 and GS-06 level, you will perform developmental duties, as assigned. At the Full Performance Level (GS-07) you will perform the duties listed below: You will be required to interpret guidelines and instructions, determine the approach, and adapt the process, to resolve customer concerns. You will research regulations, files and multiple automated systems to approve transportation requests. You will arrange shipments, discerning rates, services, route suitability, tonnage distribution, storage, packing, pickup, special services, releases, renewals, partial withdrawals, deliveries, etc. You will review agreements, validate system records, coordinate physical-lot accountability, identify loss/damages and synchronize Third-party remediation when needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying transportation rules, procedures rates or operations. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Reviewing orders and determining the extent of entitlements; 2) Maintaining shipping and storage records; 3) Assisting in performing a wide range of personal property shipment management functions including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, and/or temporary storage; 4) Utilizing automated systems to reconcile errors, track shipment, storage and/or delivery services. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying transportation rules, procedures rates or operations for the coordination of shipping/storage of personal property. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Reviewing orders and determining the extent of entitlements and eligibility for the shipment; 2) Establishing and maintaining shipping and storage records; 3) Assisting in performing a wide range of personal property shipment management functions including household goods entitlements, personal property counseling, and temporary storage; 4) Utilizing automated systems to reconcile errors, track shipment, storage and delivery services. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-05: You may qualify for this position using education to substitute for specialized experience if you have successfully completed four years of education above high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

You have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
