Duties

Using subordinate supervisors and work leaders, oversees and directs the work of the Branch. Prepares work schedules to ensure essential coverage of guard posts, assuring continuity of operations of all shifts, instructs subordinate Lead guards. Actively participates in the planning of work priorities and required minimal staffing requirements to meet security objectives. Directs the protection of government property against hazards of damage, theft, trespassing, espionage, physical security, antiterrorism and crime prevention. Inspects areas and equipment for serviceability and examine security functions/procedures for effectiveness and compliance. Prepares and/or administers the budget for program areas; and, monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Incumbent must pass, within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter, a physical agility test IAW AR 190-56, Chapter 2.
  • This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and has been designated by the Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security.
  • This position requires working outside of normal duty hours during actual or simulated incidents as an emergency response force member.
  • Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
  • Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform and maintain a high state of hygiene.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
