THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D2077000 and is part of the KS 69th Troop Command, ARNG MED DET., National Guard.

Duties

As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, youwill serve as the subject matter expert and advisor to the commander and staff on the brigade Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) program. Interprets policy and provides procedural guidance to the commander, staff members and individual military members. Keep current on and ensures the implementation of regulations and directives. Develop guidelines and operational procedures to implement changes to policies and programs directed by higher headquarters. Research and resolves the most difficult problems and questions, including those where guidance is only partially relevant or is incomplete. Accomplishes a variety of statistical data/reports, analyzes the information, identifies trends, and makes recommendations to assist in management decisions. Conduct staff visits and provides training, guidance and assistance to Soldiers at the Brigade and subordinate units. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position
• Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
• May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required
• Must maintain HIPAA certification.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E4 through E7, however enlisted applicants who hold a higher grade, may provide a written statement of understanding with their application indicating a willingness to be administratively reduced in grade to the highest grade advertised, if selected for the position. Desired Compatible Military Assignments: 42A or 68 series GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, civilian medical coding, and other medical requirements sufficient to analyze available data, identify trends and shortfalls, and provide recommendations for improvement actions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year experience equivalent to the next lower level with experience in medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
