The Lead Education Technician is responsible for leading a team of GS-4 to GS-6 Education Techs assigned to Institute for Learning, Education and Development (ILEAD). The Lead Ed Tech performs and leads others in the performance of the duties that support all aspects of educational project assessment, design, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation within ILEAD's Client Relations department.

Duties

This announcement is only open to current, permanent Institute for Learning, Education and Development (ILEAD), Station 131, and VA CTAP (Career Transition Assistance Plan for surplus/displaced employees) eligible employees. The major duties of this position include but are not limited to: Support for ILEAD Operational Plan, Service Line Tactical Plan and supervisor's performance plan. When assigned a supporting project, acknowledges project assignment and takes appropriate actions to complete project. Analyzes ET training needs and provides opportunities for training/upskilling. Distribute and balance workload among employees. Estimate and report expected time of completion of work, and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports as requested. Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies. Provide on-the-job-training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/01/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-06, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Utilize office programs, web-based tools, and other data-collection software; communicate complex information to individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds, both orally and in writing in order to respond appropriately to questions asked by potential applicants, trainees, site coordinators, program directors and Executive Leadership offices; and apply a wide range of concepts, practices, regulations, policies and precedents sufficient to provide advice on functions and work practices. Preferred Experience: A minimum of one year experience as an Education Technician within Client Relations (CR) with knowledge of CR processes critical for this position. Experience leading or supervising others. Teaching Others- Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work will occasionally involve long periods of repetitive actions (such as collating/stuffing/packing), standing for long periods of time, keyboarding, lifting boxes of supplies or education materials (up to 40 pounds), loading and moving small handcarts, and traveling through airports with personal luggage and a laptop computer.
