You will serve as a EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE REPAIR SUPERVISOR in the Production Resources Department (Code 900), Production Facilities and Equipment Division, Toolroom and Equipment Maintenance Branch (900F12) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will work on 20-30 different types of pneumatic and hydraulic types of equipment. You will check quantity and identity of materials received. You will maintain daily contact with personnel to determine parts required and keeps records of inspections and repairs to all pneumatic and electrical equipment. You will determine the employees, facilities, materials and tools for daily requirements and on a project basis. You will conduct job briefing in accordance with instructions You will investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determine causes You will advise and counsel workers on how to improve their performance and explain new work techniques. You will maintain work reports and records and in planning overall leave schedules, determines training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment, set performance standards, and make formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE experience performing a wide variety of repair which involves the overhaul and disassembly and assembly of parts, equipment, portable power equipment that consists of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems such as: pneumatic hammers, high torques voltage systems and pumps, breathing boxes to adequately supply airline/respirator support, varied forms of connectors, tubing, portable grinders, tampers portable drills, impact wrenches, and acetylene cutting torches ad tips etc. I am considered an expert, or I am consulted by other employees in difficult situations. experience maintaining daily contact with personnel to determine parts required and keeping records of inspections and repairs to all pneumatic and electrical equipment. experience maintaining records of all tools and equipment in the branch as well as track the issuance of same and return.
