Duties
Provides consultation regarding interpretation and approval of outcome measures and screening instruments.
Assesses and provides intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.
Consults with primary care providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.
Educates clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings.
Conducts outpatient group classes, stress management, relaxation training, assertive/social skills training, smoking cessation training, substance abuse identification and brief related interventions .
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI) is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health):
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting biopsychosocial evaluations; assessing patient's cognitive, emotional, and psychological status; providing individual and group treatment to include brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes; provides consultation to primary care and specialty clinic providers regarding psychological treatment options to optimize health outcomes
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
