About the Position: This position is with the Physical Support Branch and serves as a working supervisor to plan, estimate, expedite, perform, and coordinate work performed by shopsunit engaged in construction, modification, repair and maintenance of plant, equipment, and facilities. Responsible for supervising allactivities in four separate shops including Carpentry Shop, Electronics Shop, Electric Shop, and Pipe Shop.
Duties
Organizes workers into productive unit within established policies and techniques.
Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinates, sets deadlines and sequence of operations.
Oversees scheduling and planning work operations for multiple projects in progress.
Analyzes work schedules to determine manpower, tooling, material requirements and methods to be used.
Develops quality and quantity standards; spot checks work operations, reviews completed work and inspection reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is covered by the DOT rules and USACE ER 690-1-1218. May be subject to random alcohol and drug testing on an unannounced basis.
- Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412, “Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Safety-Sensitive Under The Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing” or a MOU.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment and annual physical examination to ensure required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Must obtain and/or maintain forklift operator’s license within 12 months of being hired.
- Must obtain and/or maintain scissor lift operator’s license within 12 months of being hired.
- Must obtain and/or maintain and aerial boom lift operator’s license within 12 months of being hired.
- Must obtain and/or maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Various protective devices such as safety shoes and glasses, gloves, and hard hats must be used.
- Position requires up to 25% TDY Travel per year.
- This position requires lifting of at least 50 lbs.

Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Although infrequent, may perform work from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, etc. in high or hard to reach areas. Continual walking, standing, stooping, bending, climbing, and working in uncomfortable or tight positions may be required. May lift, carry, or set up tools, parts, or equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift items weighing more than 50 pounds.
