About the Position: This position works under the general supervision of the Chief, Environmental Branch who assigns work in termsof broad general objectives. Directs work of the environmental analysis team members andaccomplishes overall technical work on own initiative within broad policies of the district and higherechelons.
Duties

Plans, directs, reviews, and coordinates the work for subordinate engineers, scientists, specialists and technicians.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed training or development.
Provides guidance and oversees the preparation and coordination of environmental documentation as required by the 1969 National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Adjusts scope of statements and studies as necessary to solve problems encountered with the minimum of time and cost.
Ensures that environmental documents prepared by team members comply with NEPA, Corps of Engineers and district guidelines and regulations for actions involving planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of Specialized Experience in administering and enforcing the goals and requirements
of the Environmental Program; overseeing, preparing and reviewing formal environmental assessments and decision documents; developing procedures to implement directives from higher headquarters: balance production goals and establish fiscally responsible staffing; contribute to organizational policy implementation; and resolve contentious issues with regulatory impacts.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Education
Basic Education Requirements:

Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
