This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center at JBSA Randolph AFB. This is a regular part-time position with guaranteed 20 hrs./wk., may work up to 40 hrs./wk. Scheduled as needed. This position is eligible for benefits.

Duties

Performs a variety of duties in support of the day to day operations of the Fitness Center. Assists the Fitness Center Director and Program Managers in planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing a variety ofindividual, team, fitness, and other programs. Prepares league schedules, promotes programs and maintains standings and changes. Sets up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events, tournaments, and practice games when such assignments require a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of such activities. Describes use of cardiovascular and strength equipment to patrons to include proper positioning, exercise techniques and safety aspects. May be required to train lower graded Recreation Aids. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment. Greets visitors, answers telephones, makes reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instrnction to patrons in the proper use of exercise equipment. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transaction. Inspects returned equipment and noting damages. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Conducts minor repairs and cleaning of machines as necessary. Operates point of sale system; receives payment and issues change for services such as massage therapy, aerobics classes, and personal training. Prepares cashier reports and makes daily deposits to central cashier. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with written guidelines. Assists in setting up facilities; grounds, equipment for programs and special functions. May operate a government vehicle to include light trnck, sedan, golf cart, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.

Qualifying Experience: Experience in planning, implementing and scheduling fitness and sports programs and/or related activities. Must have experience or training which provides a working familiarity with sports and fitness group activities/routines, related programs and equipment. ·Must have experience in utilization and operation of basic fitness equipment. Must have basic computer experience. Personal Trainer Certification or Air Force Fitness Specialist Course is desirable. Experience with communicating with patrons and dealing with the public. Experience or training of proper cash handling procedures, to include resolving common arithmetic problems when receiving payment from customers. Experience or training in operating a cash register. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): You qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of indoor/outdoor fitness and recreation equipment. 2. Must be able communicate effectively. 3. Ability to lead and train, schedule subordinates. **NOTE: Those qualified applicants who meet both the minimum qualification requirement(s) and highly preferred criteria(s) will be considered best qualified for this position and will be referred to the selecting official(s) first for consideration. Education

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
