This position is being announced under FEMA's Incident Management Assistant Team (IMAT) Program. This is a 4-year temporary appointment in the Excepted service. This position is located on a Type I, National IMAT and has a starting salary range of $54.78 per hour to $73.95 per hour; however, the maximum salary possible in this position is $84.16 per hour. Salary listed includes locality pay.

Qualifications

Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. For Marine Transportation Specialist positions, education obtained in a Federal, State, or other accredited Merchant Marine Academy is qualifying. or Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): For positions other than Marine Transportation, experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations. In addition to the basic requirements listed above, you must meet the following specializedexperience requirements to be considered for the position: To qualify for this Air Operations Specialist (Air Operations Branch Director Type I) position at the IT-04 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IT-03 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Designing and developing incident response plans for a large organization pertaining to Air Operations; Implementing and advising on a wide range of logistical support operations and technical methods and principles for aviation support operations projects; and Leading a large and geographically diverse team by engaging in activities such as providing guidance, communicating priorities, and/or delegating authority.
