This position serves as the Food Supply Procurement and Management Specialist and is assigned to the Central Food Production Unit of Nutrition and Food Services and is responsible for the procurement, handling, and accounting/budget functions for all food and supplies according to Federal Government regulations, policies, and procedures. This position is located at the VA Medical Center in Brockton, MA.
Duties

Duties include, but not limited to the following.
Procurement of subsistence, supplies, and equipment.
Placement of orders and directing the unloading and putting away of all shipments received in the inventory locations.
Resolving complex problems of prediction and forecasting which result from changes in the operating program, develops and implements necessary changes and improvements.
Responsible for preparation and dispatch of all monthly, quarterly, annual, and special budgetary reports to VACO, Fiscal, and the VISN.
As designated Purchase Card holder, makes appropriate purchases according to rules and regulations of the Purchase Card Program.
Conducts physical inventory, calculates cost of inventory, and meal cost.
Prepares billing submitted to Fiscal Service for all receiver sites.
Monitors control points to ensure adequate funds for purchases and requests fund as needed after securing approval of Service Chief.
Uses a variety of computer programs and develops spreadsheets as needed to carry out duties and maintain necessary records.
Back up timekeeper for Nutrition and Food Services.
Trains necessary personnel, on an ongoing basis as needed in inventory, purchasing, and record keeping procedures.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

Qualifications
To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes working in the Nutrition and Food Services industry procuring supplies, handling, and accounting/budget functions for all food and supplies.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond 18 semester hours) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires walking in warehouses, performing inventories in freezer/coolers. One must be able to lift thirty (30) pounds.
