Duties

The Office of Strategy, Data and Innovation facilitates clear and confident strategic decision making, amplifies and accelerates data and analytics efforts, and fosters a connection culture within the DOI OIG. We are looking for a motivated Data Analytics Fellow to join our dynamic team of data analysts and data scientists. In this internship, you will have hands-on experience in data and analytical methods, management, and governance. Relevant coursework or experience in data analytics or statistics and strong analytical skills are a plus. Responsibilities include: Performing research, data analytical, or statistical support duties Utilizing statistical software and data analytic tools to draw conclusions or develop visualizations Writing summaries of data gathered and analyzed Assisting in the development or update of user guides, data procedures, process flows, and other documentation The incumbent of this position serves as an Intern under the Pathways Internship Program (Program) under an appointment not-to-exceed 6 months. The duration of this appointment may be extended. This Program is designed to provide students with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore the benefits of Federal employment. Employment under this authority requires the execution of an Internship Program Participant Agreement that outlines work and academic responsibilities. If this appointment is extended and if the incumbent successfully completes the Program, the agency may non-competitively convert a Pathways Intern who is a U.S. Citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Intern meets the following: 1. U.S. Citizenship; 2. Successful completion of academic course of study, degree, diploma or certificate related to the position; 3. Completion of a minimum of 480 hours of work experience under the Internship Program; 4. Meet the OPM Qualification requirements for the position to which the intern may be converted; and 5. Maintain acceptable performance. If an intern is converted, the position may have a full-performance level of GS-14. If the Intern is not converted, the position will be terminated.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Appointments may be at the highest grade level for which the Intern is qualified. Interns with no previous related education or experience may qualify as described below. Minimum Qualification for the GS-03 level Education: Completion of one (1) full academic year of post-high school study. Minimum Qualification for the GS-04 level Education: Completion of two (2) full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
