You will serve as an ENGINEER on the Tomahawk Project for NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

Duties

You will serve as a Production Lead Engineer that can manage and direct the members of the branch in technical matters. You will be responsible for project management of hardware production, leading of technical investigations within or between branches, and standardizing or solidifying the future state of production. You will create production schedules, assist technicians on various build projects, create data and knowledge capture tools, write and review procedures, create Quality Assurance goals and metrics, and determine new efforts of efficiency. You will oversee procurement tasking, inventory management, internal D35 software tools, and identification of appropriate metrics valuable for production and capturing such metrics. You will interact with other groups, both government and contractor. You will build professional relationships and develop good lines of communication for conveying status, and obtaining support to resolve issues or ensure production requirements are accomplished as planned. You will lead technical teams or individuals during investigative efforts. You will provide clear and concise guidance to technical and non-technical personnel . You will read and interpret engineering drawings to make technical decisions, conduct drawing reviews , determining the correct configuration of deliverables based on specifications provided. You will create test plans and evaluate test criteria, providing input into the Engineering Change Process and System Engineering Process. You will have a firm grasp of industry practices and the state of manufacturing and kitting. You will standardize projects done by Production, meet certification standards for various aspects of production (such as quality control, ISO, IEEE, and ASME certifications), and formulate interactions and deliverables with other organizations. You will communicate with Program Managers to be aware of any potential upcoming production requirements, and ensure the tools, equipment and personnel are well suited for a wide variety of production tasks.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer overseeing technical operations and improving quality assurance procedures to resolve issues, improve processes, manage testing, and perform integration in order to optimize hardware production of weapons systems. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
