Duties

- Instructs construction contractor personnel and uncleared visitors on security requirements, especially those relating to prohibited items and the necessity of wearing entry credentials where required. - According to applicable security procedures, escorts personnel who do not have the required security clearances/accesses while in 688 CW facilities or serviced activities, including controlled areas and inside Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) areas. - For controlled and SCIF areas, checks the area before entering with uncleared personnel to ensure classified material is properly protected. - Perform Administrative Duties.

Requirements

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.

  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Most work is performed within a climate-controlled building, but some is performed out of doors in the elements. Some walking is required to escort visitors to their work site.
  • Required to be on-call during off-duty hours to handle non-routine matters affecting facilities and security. The position may be required to be present for duty during periods of high security posture of high force protection conditions.

Qualifications

This is a GG-04 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-04 duties for the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Entry/Developmental" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-04 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience. Examples of general experience include progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as knowledge of safety and security practices for government facilities and research laboratory facilities; knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization; knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed 2 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience as described above and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. AND KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of safety and security practices for government facilities and research laboratory facilities. 2. Knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization. 3. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports. 4. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
