Duties

Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Conducts the Cadet Chapel Tour Program for the general public and private interest groups visiting the Academy Chapel. Conducts the daily operations of the Cadet Chapel Facility. Accounts for monetary contributions for Cadet Chapel Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish funds.

  • Works an uncommon tour of duty and is "on call" seven days a week.
  • Supervises one full-time GS-0090-04, two part-time GS-0090-04, two or more temporary full-time GS- 0090-03 summer employees, and a pool of two or more volunteers.
  • Must be able to independently lift and carry 25-30 pounds on a regular basis.
  • May be required to perform current duties in support of the READY PROGRAM. In addition, may perform escort duty, ID checks and other related duties as required.
  • A pre-employment physical is required for this position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Technical and Medical Support Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0090, Guide Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include experience that involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups. OR EDUCATION: Completed one full year of graduate level education. My education was obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a Supervisory Guide. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of work which involves giving formal talks, interpreting natural and historic features, explaining engineering structures and related water resource developments, answering questions, guiding tours, and providing miscellaneous services to Academy Cadet Chapel visitors. Knowledge of the full range of standard clerical procedures. Skill in working courteously with people of different nationalities, religious and ethnic backgrounds. Skill in leadership and supervision of employees. Ability to read, understand, memorize and adapt prepared narrative and facts concerning religions and the chapel. Ability to speak to large groups with clear enunciation and a strong voice. Ability to learn and apply the basics of CPR and First Aid. Ability to work with computer word processing spreadsheet, email, and scheduling software. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
