About the Position: Serve as the Human Resources Specialist, providing military and civilian, personnel practices and programs in support of Lyster Army Health Clinic.
Duties
Provides guidance to Supervisors/Managers and Command Group on Recruitment, Retention, Relocation and Advanced-in-Hire.
Coordinates with staffs and submits Special Salary Rate (SSR) table requests through the Medical Readiness East G-1.
Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on a wide range of special personnel actions affecting enlisted, warrant, and commissioned officer personnel.
Independently composes correspondence pertaining to military personnel administration with information from personnel records, personal interviews with military personnel concerned and through personal research.
Maintains knowledge of military personnel management programs through individual research and liaison.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 30% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: preparing reports to track various employee data; reviewing actions various personnel action such as: involuntary separations/discharges and/or elimination actions, and providing assistance to both civilian and military personnel within an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
