Duty Location: Socorro, New Mexico
Duties
Acts as a confidential assistant and administrative support to the Managers.
Provides a wide variety of administrative support functions for the Office.
Reviews incoming and outgoing mail to route appropriately.
Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence.
Prepares travel arrangements.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.
Applicants must possess the Typing Requirement to be qualified for this position. You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors. You are self-certifying that you possess this typing requirement. In addition to meeting the typing requirement, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed below:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
To qualify for the GS-05:
Specialized Experience: You must have two years of general experience obtained in either the private or public sector. General experience consists of clerical or administrative experience that provides a knowledge of office clerical practices such as filing, telephone usage, typing, record keeping, and sorting and distributing mail. (Note: Your resume must fully support this experience.)
OR
Education: Successfully completed of a full four-year course of study above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (Note: You must submit transcripts)
OR
Combination: Successfully completed a combination of specialized experience and post-high school education that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. (Please note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used in this calculation. You must submit transcripts.)

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 07/30/2024.
Education
This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience at the GS-05 grade level. Applicants must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not-qualified for the position.
