About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east and Springfield is a 1-hour drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Read and interpret contract documents to determine contract requirements and performance standards. Review reports, document deficiencies, and provide input for proper remedial action. Observe, inspect, and investigate all construction and service phases to ensure compliance with specifications. Review contractor's partial payment estimates for items of work claimed. Coordinate inspection with other inspectors who may be maintaining surveillance over construction at the site.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent must be capable of operating a motor vehicle and maintaining a valid state driver's license.
  • The incumbent may be required to obtain a government driver's license.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with projects involving the maintenance and repair of equipment, systems, and facilities; 2) Assisting in reviewing reports, documenting deficiencies, and providing input for proper remedial action; and 3) Assisting in reading and interpreting contract documents to determine contract requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full academic year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Building and ConstructionContracting/ProcurementPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
