At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.
Duties
This position is located in our Research and Analysis Division. As an Intelligence Research Specialist, you will:
Conduct large-scale analysis of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) data using analytic tools, quantitative methods, and statistics to identify potential illicit financial activity.
Develop and apply new and highly sophisticated analytic methods to support the development of analytic products, strategic studies, and assessments that are broad reaching and influence policy decisions across the US government.
Provide expert technical guidance on appropriate analytical methods and tools to exploit large volumes of BSA data to identify illicit financial activity and serves as a thought leader on analytics within the organization.
Represent the interests of FinCEN while serving on interagency committees, attending and speaking at conferences, and leading interagency working groups.
Work with other Treasury components, regulatory agencies, domestic and international law enforcement, and the intelligence community to determine the best way to use FinCEN data to answer policy maker's key analytic questions.
Qualifications

Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in the Federal service that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:
- Utilizing a variety of analytical tools, quantitative methods, and statistics to conduct large-scale data analysis AND
- Applying a variety of data analysis tools, techniques, and methods; such as the use of SQL, Python, R, and/or SAS, to analyze financial data.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
