Duties

You will prioritize efforts to address business processes, datasets, data reporting and visualization tools. You will ensure NRL data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure and timely to support the mission. You will lead and monitor the data and analytics infrastructure and systems that provide timely and reliable information used to manage the research portfolio. You will lead, motivate and manage technical teams. You will lead NRL wide data working groups to align and standardize data models. You will prepare and provide comprehensive briefings and presentations on all data related programs.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11-13 grade level or pay band (NP-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: 1.) Leading and monitoring the data and analytics infrastructure and systems that provide reliable and timely information used to manage the research portfolio and business functions; 2.) Overseeing the collection, procurement, storage, management quality and protection of data; 3.) Determining where to cut cost and increase efficiencies based on insights derived from data; and 4.) Effectively communicating the status, value, and importance of data collection. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

1515: Basic Requirements:

Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

1550: Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

1560: Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

    or

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
