About the Position: Serve as an Army Substance Abuse Program Specialist for the Directorate of Human Resources Clinical Branch at Fort Eisenhower, GA.
Duties
Design special courses in response to identified Army Substance Abuse Program trends and needs of the installation to include counter-narcotics focused training.
Assist in in-service training of Army Substance Abuse Program staff.
Coordinate items for release to the news media/public affairs; bulletins; fliers; newsletters, etc., including audio and visual presentations.
Coordinate efforts with other Army Substance Abuse Program staff to provide an integrated approach to high-risk behavior.
Assess high-risk behavior in the military unit by determining the climate of the unit and possible linkage between a variety of behavior problems.
Review policies to ensure regulatory compliance of installation-wide prevention initiatives.
Prepare local analysis and briefing material for presentation at the quarterly Installation Prevention Team.
Requirements

- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required up to 5%.

Basic Requirement for Army Substance Abuse Program Specialist (PC/RRP/SPPM):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Sociology, Public Health, Anthropology, Political Science and Psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing and/or implementing high-risk prevention strategies such as substance abuse, suicide prevention for a target population; 2) coordinating training programs for unit prevention leader, civilian employees and civilian/military personnel in supervisory/management positions; AND 3) developing training and/or lesson plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Counseling, or Human Services (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
