The Earth Sciences Division, Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) is looking for an experienced individual to serve as the Associate Director for Strategy and Innovation to support the Goddard Space Flight Center mission on climate innovation with a focus on partnering and engaging external communities and developing strategic initiatives that leverage and advance GISS's technical expertise. This position will have the authority to act and speak for GISS in all relevant matters.
Duties
Develop and implement strategic direction and plans for climate innovation initiatives for the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in coordination with Goddard Earth Sciences Division.
Represent the Goddard Institute for Space Studies at high-profile events, including media, industry, and other external activities.
Lead external community engagement to establish new partnerships and scientific opportunities at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
Serve as a liaison to NASA HQ and other government agencies to support and expand climate innovation initiatives at the GISS campus.
Organize routine industry, external, or other partner engagement activities at GISS to bring together the community around core areas of climate innovation aligned with the strategic framework for climate innovation.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
Leading a group or team to complete work that is focused on climate services, climate modeling, or climate technologies;
Developing strategic initiatives and implementing project plans to include climate innovation or Earth system science; and
Managing collaborations or partnerships with a group of stakeholders on a range of projects or programs related to climate research or climate technology development.
