About the Position: As the Southern Operations Branch Chief you will supervise and coordinate the operation and maintenance of 8 to 10 multipurpose dams & associated FERC-operated hydroelectric power plants. Management of these multipurpose projects includes operation and maintenance of recreation/natural resource areas on project lands and shorelines for a variety of purposes such as parks, visitor centers, recreational facilities for swimming, boating, camping, and picnicking.
Duties
Supervise the electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance of several multipurpose dams and associated infrastructure.
Direct preparation and approve multi-year long and short-range plans, specifications, and budget estimates,
through the use of a 5-year Operational Management Plan (OMP) and an annual operating plan and schedule
Manage the scheduling and execution of multiple business lines for several multipurpose dams and associated infrastructure over a large regional area.
Work with subordinates both on an individual basis and in various team configurations.
Execute major maintenance, rehabilitation, improvements, preventative and emergency repairs of multipurpose dams and associated infrastructure.
Maintain close relationships with federal, state and local agencies, Congressmen and their principal assistants, tribal leaders, national and regional organizations, lake associations, etc.
Requirements
- A one year supervisory probationary period may be required if not already completed.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
