About the Position: Serves as the Visual Information Specialist on Army University Press's Line of Departure team. Primary duties include preparing page layouts, producing, or procuring and manipulating art and photos to support text, and supporting the team's website.

Duties

As a Visual Information Specialist, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Produces electronic page layouts, using Adobe InDesign to meet computerized publishing requirements. Ensure that an identifiable, attractive, and uniform export with minimal accessibility concerns. Coordinates with staff and team chief to prepare effective presentations, including ensuring the correct placement of text and illustrations. Prepares the page layouts for editing by staff as part of collaborative electronic editing workflow. Determines percentages of screens, colors, and tints to be used on the pages of the site.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a background Tier 1 security clearance.

Specialized Experience Statement To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Work which includes work that involves desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign) with emphasis on production of a variety of graphic prints and digital images, and software to enhance and increase the quality of images. -OR- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Journalism, Literature, English. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
