You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPT, PROD FACILITY & EQUIP MGMT DIV, INDUSTRICAL EQUIPMENT INVESTMENTS AND ENGINEERING BRANCH (Code 982) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will participate in acquisition activities with the project execution agent of assisting in the developing technical criteria or contractor selection scoring plans.
You will serve as member of Technical Evaluation Boards (TEBs) to provide input on technical qualifications of contractors proposed to perform shipyard projects.
You will manage project execution, coordinate project work around the waterfront operations and develop creative solutions.
You will ensure that projects assigned have necessary support prior to and during execution to preclude delays to work and minimize adverse impact to Shipyard operations.
You will apply knowledge of engineering principles, physics, and chemistry of the type, scope and thoroughness.
You will ensure the necessary documents are submitted to update systems to reflect the work completed.
You will provide design work, prepare reports, and accomplish technical engineering investigations of facilities/equipment, or public works installations.
You will support production engineering construction or design of various piping systems, hydraulic systems, structural strength of materials, strength of concrete, air systems, or electrical systems, circuit components and/or equipment.
You will develop and review plans, specifications, and projects from an engineering perspective.
You will apply knowledge of Federal and commercial technical specifications, testing requirements, inspection practices, industry standards, report forms, safety codes, fire protection codes, building codes, and electrical I NEC codes.
You will provide support of waterfront facilities, existing facilities modifications, repair, maintenance, design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning/repair of industrial plant equipment, and engineering evaluations.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-12: In addition to the basic requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying professional engineering theories, concepts, and principles to develop and execute industrial plant equipment improvement projects (e.g. repair, new construction, renovation, and demolition) for the safety and effectiveness of equipment and facilities.
FOR THE GS-11: In addition to the basic requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying professional engineering theories, concepts, and principles to execute industrial plant equipment improvement projects (e.g. repair, new construction, renovation, and demolition) for the safety and effectiveness of equipment and facilities.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
