You will serve as a WELDER in the AIRFRAMES DIVISION of FLEET READINESS CENTER NORTHWEST.
Duties
You will inspect aircraft installed components for cracks, signs of metal fatigue and damage.
You will perform welding and heat treatment of metals.
You will fabricate and weld various structural components and assemblies authorized for user requirements.
You will inspect weld repairs in the areas of jet engine combustion chambers, major jet engine subassemblies, and other aircraft structural weld repairs.
You will perform both major and minor welding repairs on jet engines, engine subassemblies, aircraft associated structures, assemblies and support equipment as authorized by higher authority.
You will fabricate metal components from rough sketches and blueprints.
You will weld a variety of metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thickness.
You will weld in varied positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position requires you to obtain a Department of the Navy Class A Welder Certification within 6 months of being hired
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 80 pounds in weight.
- This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
