The VA St. Louis Healthcare System (VASTLHCS) is recruiting for a Management and Program Assistant, in the Technology, Innovation, and Development (TID) Service which is organizationally aligned under the Business Office Service.

Major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Receives office visitors and telephone calls, determining the identity of the caller and general purpose of the call. Screens calls and inquiries. Manages all incoming correspondence directed to the office, assessing which items require the supervisor's attention and which can be addressed independently. Develops various administrative and management procedures to assure efficient and effective operations. Utilizes pertinent systems to produce a variety of correspondence, reports and documents. Examines organizational workflows, procedures, assignments, and information documentation systems for review. Assesses and, when necessary, enacts new policies, procedures, and regulations, offering guidance to Chief and organizational staff. Maintains logs and suspense records. Keeps records and tracking systems for incoming and outgoing correspondence ensuring timely follow-up and action. Addresses inaccuracies, deviations from procedures, and omissions, seeking essential corrections or additional background information. Performs information reviews, generates detailed reports, and aids in identifying and solving issues. Receives, reviews and analyzes data to determine completeness and accuracy of reports. Sets up protocols for incoming data, arranges computerized data sets, and retrieves computerized information. Gathers statistics and analysis to support decision-making processes. Conducts qualitative and analytical reviews prior to preparation of presentations. Performs qualitative assessments before creating presentations. Conducts sections of studies under supervision of an analyst. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 07:30am - 4:00pm Telework: Ad-hoc - Situational as needed Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/22/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level, you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: analyzing data, preparing reports, monitoring actions, conducting surveys and screening calls and inquires. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Education: Generally, Not Applicable at GS-5 or above for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions (GS-0344), however, graduate education may be credited towards experience in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, stooping and lifting approximately 20 pounds. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts and requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as meeting and training rooms, libraries, or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Education

Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by the Clerical and Administrative Support Positions (GS-0344) standard; however, graduate education may be credited towards experience in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
